Ocean Rapids Set To Launch Operations This October In Preparation For End-Of-Year Festivities

Rapids Camp Sagana subsidiary, Ocean Rapids, is set to start its operations of life jackets hire and ocean water-safety at the Coast of Kenya this October 2026. The company will be based in Nyali, Mombasa, serving as a strategic hub for aquatic adventure and water safety services that include quality life jacket hire, professional water safety, and guide support.

“We are launching our operations targeting the festive season because we know many people go to Mombasa, Diani, Watamu and Malindi during that time and they get stranded because the oceans and beachfronts get full in places like Mama Ngina Drive, Lido Beach, Pirates, among others, which are very popular in the North Coast. That’s where our services come in handy,” said William Kinuthia, Chief Facilitator, Rapids Camp Sagana.

Ocean Rapids, which is an offshoot of Rapids Camp Sagana, prides itself as a premier leading water sports destination in the country, with over 23 sporting activities under its belt. It will leverage its vast and many years of experience to bridge the safety gap in the new niche coastal market.

“Our business is centered around safety to clients as the number one priority, and safety must be guaranteed. Many people have already started going to Mombasa, including tourists, both domestic and international, to enjoy themselves. But every year, we have many accidents happening all over, recorded and non-recorded, losing over 45 people every year in ocean incidents. That’s not a very good scenario,” added William Kinuthia.

The establishment of the Nyali office will serve as the launch pad for Ocean Rapids’ future expansion along the Kenyan coast, with huge business opportunities and plans to have smaller branches in Watamu, Kilifi, Diani, and Malindi.

“We are growing our Coast region services because it’s already a tourism destination, and it’s a big circuit. The circuit covers international tourists who come to Maasai Mara, Mount Kenya, Ol Pejeta, Samburu areas, and Amboseli as the main tourist circuit in the country, and who eventually end at the Kenyan coast.”

Ocean Rapids adventures and tour activities are available to clients seeking professional water safety support while undertaking aquatic activities. Clients can access the services by simply placing a call to book or arrange for assistance.

“We have identified schools, colleges, universities, churches, tourists, organizations, and travel companies. We are targeting all so that we can fill the gap and provide safety equipment, safety lifeguards, and guided ocean safaris,” explained William Kinuthia.

“In the next 5–10 years, we plan to expand and import vessels by investing close to $10 million to enhance marine ocean activities and inland (river and lake) activities,” added Kinuthia.

Ocean Rapids safety personnel and guides are appropriately and highly trained and certified by all the relevant and reputable international bodies, such as United Rafting and Paddles Worldwide, making Ocean Rapids a reliable aquatic adventure, marine, and water sports safety and equipment provider in Kenya and Africa.
