New Chapter in Rafting
The unification of International Rafting Federation (IRF) and World Rafting Federation (WRF) to United Rafting, the World Rafting Governing Body, has seen an opportunity of Rapids Camp to expand its white water rafting base. Rapids Camp is currently expanding its facilities and currently is the largest white water Centre in Kenya.
With the Kenya Rafting Federation selecting the river course at the Rapids Camp helps to place Rapids Camp at the Centre or white water rafting in Africa. Rapids Camp is currently is constructing a dedicated white water Centre which will have the capacity of accommodating over 200 athletes in any given time. During the World Cup Series 2026, our camp was able to host athletes officials, rafting officials, government officers, volunteers amongst many. With its new white water stadium in place, Rapids Camp is privy to have hosted major international paddle sports competitions including 2008 and 2015 Olympic qualifiers for Canoe under International Canoe Federation (ICF) currently Paddle Worldwide, Inaugural Africa Rafting Championship 2025, 2026 Continental Rafting Championship and World Cup Series 2026, the first one ever in Africa. Currently Rapids camp has Two main Conference facilities; 200 pax and 400 pax facilities which gives it an upper hand not only in Sagana but in Kenya.
With the new facilities in place, Mr. William Kinuthia who is the Director of Rapids Camp, Sagana and Executive Body Member of United Rafting, the World Rafting Governing Body, has exhibited confidence that the new white water rafting Centre at the Rapids Camp is what Africa needs to expand its paddle sport activities.
Rapids Camp is currently the largest white water facility in Kenya.
